We deliver the full Australian Curriculum with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, taught through explicit instruction and mastery learning so students build solid foundations and real confidence in their abilities. Every day includes two-hour literacy and numeracy blocks, led by experienced teachers and supported by multiple assistant teachers in each classroom. Our staff are trained to work effectively with students who have learning difficulties, and specialist professionals provide wrap-around wellbeing support.
We also keep our campuses small, so that every child is known, supported, and challenged. With an extended school day, we ensure there is time to cover literacy, numeracy, and the full breadth of the Australian Curriculum, giving students the best chance to achieve mastery. Because of this longer day, students are not assigned homework, allowing them to rest, recharge, and spend more quality time with their friends and families after school.
At Mastery Schools Australia, students learn in core classes that are supported by both teachers and assistant teachers, ensuring every child receives individualised attention. Learning is delivered through differentiated classroom instruction, complemented by targeted literacy and numeracy programs based on each student’s needs. Evidence-based intervention programs are used to strengthen core skills and build student confidence.
Our classrooms are supported by a range of specialist teachers and visiting programs, including Health & Physical Education and Music, which enrich the learning experience and provide a balanced education.
While the academic approach is consistent across all campuses, the year levels we serve vary slightly by state. In Queensland, schools cater for Years 4–10; in Tasmania, our new campus (opening 2026) will serve Years 3–8; and in New South Wales, schools will also operate from Years 3–8.
Mastery Teaching sits at the heart of our approach. Its purpose is simple: to ensure students develop a deep understanding of what they are learning before moving on. By focusing on how children learn best, we create the conditions for genuine growth and lasting achievement.
Our teaching is grounded in the science of learning and supported by evidence-based, high-impact instructional strategies. Lessons are carefully scaffolded through explicit, direct, and structured instruction, helping students to build concepts and skills step by step. Assessment is authentic and meaningful, giving teachers clear insight into each child’s progress while empowering students to reflect on their own learning and support their peers.
Strong relationships are central to this process. By fostering ongoing, authentic connections between teachers and students, we create classrooms where learners feel safe, supported, and ready to take on challenges. Our planning draws on the links across the Australian Curriculum, ensuring a seamless progression of learning as students move through year levels and across subject areas.
